COMMENT: 16S rRNA amplicon analysis is a powerful method extensively used to obtain a taxonomic profiling in a metagenomic sample. However, short reads technologies are not able to provide full length 16S sequence. Thus there is a growing interest in exploring long reads technologies capabilities to analyze 16S amplicons.
The authors use Oxford Nanopore technology to analyze 16S amplicons from a controlled (BEI) bacterial community sample.
Althought this technology still has a high error rate the authors consider this technology as promising
