COMMENT:  Many reports have linked Microbiome with body weight , obesity and malnutrition. Thus, microbiome composition could be used as a therapeutic tool in different situations. The authors analize the relationship between early microbiome and weigh gain in preterm neonates.

They reported that early microbiota was associated with later weight-gain, suggesting a potential effect of the early microbiota in weight-gain in preterm infants and thus they discuss about the the intestinal microbiota as a potential target for favoring growth and maturation in preterm infants.
